Board Member

Nneka Obasi works as an advocate for new immigrants, and a promoter of African and African American art, music, and fashion. She has been deeply involved with the African Diaspora Community in Chicago and has worked extensively with civil society organizations in various capacities and continues to lend her expertise as a consultant to charitable organizations. Nneka is a member of the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE), and is one of the experts on the Gender Task Team (GTT). She graduated with honors from The University of Nigeria Nsukka, with a bachelor’s degree in French and German. Her master’s degree in education is from St. Xavier University in Chicago and she has a master’s degree in Non-Profit Management from the Spertus Institute in Chicago. Nneka is currently undertaking doctoral work under the PhD Program in Curriculum Studies at DePaul University in Chicago and will pursue policy research in gender sensitive education in emergencies.
