Reading Refuge Book Club: “We Are Displaced” by Malala Yousafzai.

We are excited to welcome Zaynab Abdi, a young woman who was born in Somalia, grew up in Yemen and is now a U.S. citizen. She will join us to discuss We are Displaced, by Malala Yousafzai. Zaynab is one of the young women who shares her story in the book.

As Malala writes in her book “our world is calling out for help and change and hope. It is the younger generation, and girls and women like those featured in this book who are answering.”

After arriving in the U.S., Zaynab graduated from high school as a Valedictorian and earned her undergraduate degree from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Zaynab is currently a student at Columbia University earning her Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a focus in Development Practice.
